One Life To...

Do something in life
Doesn't matter what it is
Don't let life pass by

The candle burns once
Life will soon flicker to death
Light your heart and mind

All things wilt away
No garden blooms forever
But some scents remain

Wisdom (Rock Bottom)

A steady fall
Soon I will hit rock bottom

A faint call
Soon I will find my wisdom

A thin line in between
If I rise up or give in

The mind playing tricks
laying future bricks

Visions come visiting
Memories are flooding

To emerge a better man
To do all that I can

'No pain, no glory'
This is my story

A loss I chose to gain
Going beyond my pain

I hit rock bottom
but I found my wisdom

Learning from my mistakes
and all the choices I make

Live life as long as we are breathing
For this life is meant for living

Across The River

This river never dries… it flows through the valley of love…
and feeds on the lovers’ cries…
Come and wash your pain away... dip your feet in the water…
on the soft grass you can lay…
Feel the caress of the breeze… close your eyes and sleep…
let the pain go with ease…

Slip into a peaceful dream… hold onto hopes of morrow…
float in the moonlight beams…
Create a space in your heart… drain all your hurt out…
and prepare for a fresh start…
Build a bridge in the morning… and walk across the river…
for your life will be waiting…

Pain comes and goes… like everything else in life…
they are your friends as well as foes…
Treat them well and equal… learn from their lessons…
or your sufferings will be dual!
We are lost in our pain… in hope we are found…
and discover the magic of life again…

The Voice Inside Of Me!

You know the words...
You know the lines...
All these efforts but
nothing really rhymes...

You know the beats...
You know the rhythm...
But making music
too cumbersome...

You know the colours...
You know the paints...
When you wield the brush
the ideas just faint...

You know the dreams...
You know the reality...
But at crucial stage
they lose their clarity...

Sitting one afternoon...
Writing in the heat...
Weighing your life
and its heartbeat...

The pulse is still there...
The blood still flowing...
You now had to figure
where you are going...

You had been travelling...
Coming and going...
Living out of a bag...
The closet's wondering...

The dust has settled
on things left behind:
Dreams on the pillow,
and friends hard to find

Knowing you had to come
pick the pieces up...
Find a thread or a string
and line them all up...

The moments you gathered...
Triumphs and mistakes...
Reevaluating them all...
Putting so much at stake...

Stirring up the past...
Decoding your self...
Taking all the chances..
Coming out of the shelf...

Still there are struggles...
Journey never ends...
You jump off the edge
and hope it all mends...

What you never risked
you will never get...
Count all your stars
before you forget...

Freedom is never free...
There's always a price...
Empty your pockets
Roll out the dice...

Say a little prayer...
Hope for the best...
When you give it all up...
You don't care for the rest

Take a chance with the one
that's filling up your senses...
Heart wants what it wants...
Drop all your defenses...

Everything happens for good...
The good and the bad...
When you risk it all...
Nothing better than that...

In the state of vulnerability
You're the strongest you can...
For He will hold you close
If betrayed by mortal men...

That's how you learn and grow...
Find the person you are...
Every struggle worthwhile...
The wounds and the scars...

Words echo in your head...
Emotions pump your heart...
But you are as confused
as you were at the start...

So, I hope the night
will do you some good...
Follow all my advice
and do what you should...

ASSURANCE

Weak-limbed thoughts...
Tired out dreams...
Strained visions...
Hazy roads...

I stop
and
rest

Quick-footed world...
Fast love and the
Swift lovers...
Wasted...

I stop
and
wait

Someday it'll all be fine...
Dreams well-lived...
Things clear and
Love found...

I cling
on to
faith

Chalo Utho... (Get Going Now..)

Chalo utho, subah hui... Raat kab ki so chuki..
Sapnon ke dayre se nikal.. ankhen teri der talak ro chuki..
Kuch zimmedariya hain, kuch majbooriya bhi..
Khushiyon ke lamhe kayi, teri zindagi shayad kho chuki..

Ab bas daud chal.. aage baddh.. mudd ke na dekh tu piche
Jo reh gaya wo kho gaya... lamhon ko kyun tu khiche?
Kuch nakaamiya hain, kuch pareshaniya bhi..
Banzar hai yaadon ki zameen... sapne inme phir kyun tu siche?

Socha tune kuch aur tha par jo hai mila woh bhi to hai naseeb
Bikhri hui ikchchhaye ye mann ki, samet le apne kareeb
Kuch nadaniya hain, kuch bechainiya bhi..
Hai chahat kitni... par har pal tu ho raha hai samay se gareeb

Chala tha akela tu ghar se.. humsafar raah mein milte rahe
Ruthe kayi, bichchde kayi.. dard har raah mein badhte rahe
Kuch barbadiya hain, kuch aabadiya bhi..
Hai jeevan yahi.. chott bhi hass kar, raah mein silte rahe

Hai saans baaki, hai aas baaki, to rakh tu khud par bharosa
Chala chal aage, le kar tu apni kismet ka hosla

Second Chance

The past was not perfect
There are many things I wish to forget
Life went on, I stay chained to those memories
'Wish I could change', I'd hear me say

No matter where life takes us
We'll always return to the point
where we left some questions unanswered
Today's happenings will lead us to our yesterday

Like a knot that needs to be undone
before the pearls can come together
The longer you keep the task pending
The pile of problems will keep on increasing

Without dealing with your past
the present can never be fully lived
If you've learned to live anyway
Don't be so happy for you know it too
that a half life you had been living and
you still choose to live

I am on my path to venture into the mysteries of
what I could have been and what I can now be

I'll risk my present
For this is no life at all
Pretending everything is fine
When I know what's wrong all along

The safety of today
it is hard to throw it all away
but now it's so difficult to say it's all fine
when I see the cracked lines in my life's wall

So, I'll go on my trail and mend my yesterday
to get a second chance to live a happy today

Fear

I fear failure
I fear success too
One breaks you
The other blinds you

I fear speaking
I fear silence too
One invites criticism
The other dismisses you

I fear working
I fear idleness too
One grills you
The other devours you

I fear loving
I fear not being loved too
One takes your all
The other alienates you

I fear life
I fear death too
One reveals you
The other conceals you

I fear all but what I fear more
is not to have known
what it feels like :

To rise up after a fall
To stay grounded when fame calls

To speak no matter what they say
To be quiet when words are not to be played

To do a task with all my heart
To not invest time in what's not my art

To just give and not expect in love
To accept fate and not regret being unloved

To discover oneself in one's life
To look at death as the end of all strife

So many fears I am yet to conquer
Though I am glad I enslaved the greatest fear of all:
The fear of not having lived at all!

  • A MOMENT OF LIGHT

The goodnights were said and done
A single soul found itself still awake
Unable to open the door to his dreams
He went a mile to set his mind free
to the wide and calm lake nearby

A slow breeze greeted him 'Hello'
The freezing water touched his feet
Getting on board a little boat
he rowed to the middle of the lake
    Letting his oar down
staring up at the clear sky
    searching for his star
    He whispered a silent prayer
    and made a wish

As the falling star, disappeared in the horizon
He felt his hope rising from despair
All his life he had been waiting for things to turn out well
All his life he had been crying
    The depth of his miseries!
    Asking for answers
    Looking for remedies
    Voicing his disappointments and heartaches
to the One who never sleeps
Finding a little corner by himself
    He would secretly weep

    At this precise moment
Out here in the company of His creation
He felt the serenity of the place
    Changing the way he thought
    A new person was evolving
From the ashes of his being

'Life is never what you see
    but what you think'

All along he had been thinking
his life was of no good
No good a life he ever lead

    'Life is beautiful'
    He heard his heart say
And felt the beauty within him too

    Thanking God with folded hands
He stirred back to where he began

The door of life was opened to him
The room, the wall, the carpet on the floor
    Everything was the same

    Sinking in his bed
He closed his eyes and smiled
He knew his life had changed

(It doesn't take much to make your life better. Change your outlook and you will soon find your life changing for the better)
